What is a building energy performance certificate?
An energy performance certificate (EPC) assesses a building’s energy performance and assigns an energy class. It is based on calculated energy needs for operating the building, rather than actual utility bills.
When is an energy performance certificate required?
Certification mainly concerns the completion of new buildings, major renovation, sale and rental. Specific obligations and legal exemptions depend on the building and situation. Slovak Act No. 555/2005 Coll., as amended, sets the framework; confirm the requirements for your case before ordering.
What is the difference between an EPC and an energy audit?
An EPC assesses building energy performance and assigns an energy class. An energy audit examines energy use and potential savings in greater detail. E&E Concept provides certification, building assessments and energy consulting; energy audits are not listed among our services.
What types of buildings do you work with?
We work with family houses, apartment buildings, commercial premises, administrative and public buildings. Our services cover both new and existing buildings.
What documentation will you need?
We typically need project documentation or a building survey, construction and material details, and information about heating, ventilation and hot water systems. The exact list depends on the building and service and is confirmed after your initial enquiry.
How does cooperation across Slovakia work?

Documentation and consultations can be handled online; any site visit is assessed for the individual building. You receive a professional output and an explanation of the recommendations.
How long is an energy performance certificate valid?
An EPC is valid for a maximum of 10 years. Its validity may end earlier following alterations that affect the building’s energy performance. If the building changes, check whether new certification is needed.
Do you provide energy certificates across Slovakia?
Yes. E&E Concept provides energy certificates, building assessments and energy consulting throughout Slovakia. Documentation and consultations can also be handled online; the specific process depends on the location and building type.
How much does an EPC cost and how long does it take?
